• Network Interface: Modem and Fax transmission, remote retrieval
• Power / Battery AC or battery powered

Electrocardiogram 12-lead ECG EKG: A combination of electrodes that form an imaginary line in the body along which the electrical signals are measured. In fact, a 12 lead electrocardiograph usually only uses 10 wires/ electrodes-this leads me to the following article.
Note: We seldom discuss 12-lead even though it performs such an important task in so many modern clinical settings-okay, so you knew you use 10 wires-while researching this article I came across an interesting article: 12-lead ST-segment monitoring vs. single-lead maximum ST-segment monitoring for detecting ongoing ischemia in patients with unstable coronary syndromes, by BJ Drew, et al http://ajcc.aacnjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/7/5/355 An interesting refresher, give it a try.

Sonos 5500 Ultrasound Equipment

Hewlett Packard makes the Phillips SONOS 5500 ultrasound system. This ultrasound system, also known as a cardiac ultrasound, uses standard ultrasound techniques to image two-dimensional slices of the heart. The SONOS 5500 uses phased area ultrasound, capable of 2D, M-Mode Colorflow and steerable pulse wave Dobbler procedures. The SONOS 5500 uses Fusion and Harmonic Fusion technologies: Harmonic Fusion Imaging for its HP SONOS 5500 cardiovascular ultrasound system.

Harmonic Fusion Imaging is the only tissue harmonic-imaging capability able to take full advantage of Hewlett Packard’s Fusion Imaging beamformer and ultraband transducer technology to improve endocardial definition and reduce clutter. The increased image quality represents a second generation of non-contrast harmonic imaging, demonstrating more clearly defined lateral, apical and septal tissue and edges.
(Echocardiogram is a sonography of the heart. Echocardiography was an early medical application of ultrasound. Echocardiography was also the first application of intravenous contrast-enhanced ultrasound.)

HP SONOS 7500 Ultrasound Machine

Hewlett Packard makes the Phillips SONOS 7500 ultrasound machine. This latest ultrasound system, also known as a cardiac ultrasound, uses standard ultrasound techniques to image two-dimensional slices of the heart. The SONOS 7500 uses live 3D Echo and live Trans thoracic xPlane Imaging-the latest ultrasound systems complete with real-time imaging.
(Echocardiogram is a sonography of the heart. Echocardiography was an early medical application of ultrasound. Echocardiography was also the first application of intravenous contrast-enhanced ultrasound.)

This latest ultrasound systems now employ 3D real-time imaging. In addition to creating two-dimensional pictures of the cardiovascular system, an SONOS 7500 echocardiogram can also produce accurate assessment of the velocity of blood and cardiac tissue at any arbitrary point using pulsed or continuous wave Doppler ultrasound. This technique injects gas-filled microbubbles into the venous system to improve tissue and blood delineation. Echocardiography is usually performed by cardiac sonographers and interpreted by a cardiologist.
