Hewlett Packard makes the Phillips SONOS 5500 ultrasound system. This ultrasound system, also known as a cardiac ultrasound, uses standard ultrasound techniques to image two-dimensional slices of the heart. The SONOS 5500 uses phased area ultrasound, capable of 2D, M-Mode Colorflow and steerable pulse wave Dobbler procedures. The SONOS 5500 uses Fusion and Harmonic Fusion technologies: Harmonic Fusion Imaging for its HP SONOS 5500 cardiovascular ultrasound system.

Harmonic Fusion Imaging is the only tissue harmonic-imaging capability able to take full advantage of Hewlett Packard’s Fusion Imaging beamformer and ultraband transducer technology to improve endocardial definition and reduce clutter. The increased image quality represents a second generation of non-contrast harmonic imaging, demonstrating more clearly defined lateral, apical and septal tissue and edges.
